OLD FLOWERS IN A QUIET HOME
by Berta Clapés
But what if I get bored of people who love me
And end up in a quiet home?
I’ll peek through the glass to my neighbours’ windows
While they slow dance on the kitchen floor
And in April I’ll have flowers in the garden
In December I’m gonna stay in
Cause what if I grow up tired
And I still don’t recognize my new street?
Then I could pretend I’ve always wanted
To grow old in a house no one’s in
I’ll stare at my neighbours, close the curtains
And while they slow dance I’ll tuck myself in.
PHOTOTROPISM By Vera Lucia I am a shy silhouette in a junction between walls, The midnight corner I sit atop an oak dresser carved from my brothers daughter. Blurry, undefined, I am unsure of myself in a haze my arms my callouses trail. I whisper against the feathery edges of glow warmth opportunity My emerald veins flow with need want hunger My palms grab hold of the center I feel hot plasma fill the cracks of my fingerprints I live.
mundane rituals
By Sophia Jacqueline
i make my matcha with oat milk
the way you showed me
7 am sharp
i like to think that somewhere
(wherever you are now)
you do the same
and you eat your toast with apple jam
the way i used to
i eat mine with butter now
and we don't talk.

Old Flowers in A Quiet Home is such a good piece. It makes me really FEEL. I've always dreamt of living in a quiet house in a neighborhood and being alone when I grow old and all those sorts. But to be honest, sometimes it might get lonely... This poem really speaks to that feeling. Great job. A beautiful read before I go off to sleep. Please send my thanks to the author for creating & sharing the piece. <3
